EX-GIRLFRIEND SWEATER is a study of sartorial artifacts borrowed and stolen from the ruins of bygone love. It’s also an intentional subversion of the predominantly heteronormative narrative woven into the ‘ex-boyfriend jean’ sold to us by brands for years. Through this zine, we unearth stories of queer love, exes turned unexpected best friends and co-conspirators, and other unruly dynamics that emerge when a significant (or flash-in-the-pan) relationship morphs from one phase to another. Along the way we ask: If the things we (sub)consciously hold onto represent the space between our past and future selves, when does a garment become a ghost?
